    History hydroxychloroquine lupus

SLE is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissues, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs. It can affect the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and blood vessels.

Initial dose 400 mg 310 mg base orally 1 to 2 times a day; this dose may be continued for several weeks or months, depending on patient response. Maintenance dose 200 to 400 mg 155 to 310 mg base orally daily. Comments -Each dose should be taken with a meal or a glass of milk. This means that the person with lupus is taking Plaquenil® hydroxychloroquine and/or other medications and is doing well with no evidence of lupus manifestations such as arthritis, rash, kidney involvement, blood cell count problems, etc. This is the goal for most people with lupus, but is not possible in every case. Hydroxychloroquine is one of many medications frequently used in rheumatology practice. Its remarkable versatility is attested by its routine use in lupus, in patients with an autoimmune coagulopathy, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, as well as those with a low-level inflammatory arthropathy.

The seriousness of SLE can range from mild to life-threatening. There is no cure for lupus, but medical interventions and lifestyle changes can help control it.

Minocycline and Plaquenil - Scleroderma - Inspire I take both minocycline and plaquenil. I tried weening myself off the plaquenil, but, couldn't take the pain. I've only been on the mino since February. But, so far I've had more good days than bad. And, that's a great thing. This time last year I believed my active days were over. I wasn't able to get out of bed for more than an hour at a time.
